Rajinikanth's Kaala set for release on 7 June, avoids clash with Salman Khan's Race 3

Rajinikanth's much awaited Tamil-Telugu-Hindi film Kaala finally has a release date.
With the end of the strike by the Tamil Film Producers' Council, Kaala has now been scheduled for release on 7 June.
This also ensures that the Rajinikanth-starrer avoids a direct clash with Salman Khan's multi-starrer Race 3.
Director Pa Ranjith and actor-producer Dhanush, Rajinikanth's son-in-law, announced the worldwide release of the gangster drama in three languages through their Twitter handles.

The earlier plan was to release the film on 27 April, but that had to be shelved after the producers' council went on strike from 1 March in protest against the 'exorbitant' virtual print fee being charged by digital service providers.
The norm is that once a film is ready, the makers have to get an NOC, or no-objection certificate, from the producers' council before submitting it to the CBFC for a certificate for public exhibition.
With the council on strike, Kaala and several other Tamil films got stuck as no NOCs were being issued. Eventually, the makers of Kaala submitted the film for certification with an NOC from the Tamil Nadu Film Chamber of Commerce.
But some rumour mongers said the film would not be cleared quickly by the CBFC and would have to be released on 14 June, the date already chosen for Race 3.
However, the producers have laid these rumours to rest now by announcing that the film will be released on 7 June.
The film, which has been made in three languages, also stars Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar, P Samuthirakani and Anjali Patil.
The film's teaser was released on 2 March.
