Actor-turned-producer Dev Adhikari’s production house Dev Entertainment Ventures (DEV) signed a collaboration with the government of Uzbekistan at the Park Hotel in Kolkata yesterday. As a result, from now onwards, Bengali films will not only reach the UK, USA and the European countries, but also Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
The last Indian cinema artiste to have gained popularity in these nations was Raj Kapoor. With the initiative of DEV, now the filmmakers from Bengal will be able to shoot their films in these regions and dub in the native languages without any obstacle.
The alliance will increase the hold of Bengali cinema manifold, as along with releasing the films in those far-away lands, the pact will ensure participation of actors from those countries in Bengali films and vice-versa.
The production house is now hopeful that through Bengali films, the beauty and culture of these landscapes will be witnessed by a larger audience.
Director Aniket Chattopadhyay, the entire cast of Kabir, including Rukmini Maitra, Priyanka Sarkar and Mimi Chakraborty were present at the event.
To commemorate the unprecedented partnership, Nandan has hosted a two-day long Uzbekistan Film Festival.
