After filming the international project, Singh In The Rain, a wedding comedy and a pilot, New Amsterdam, for American television, actor Anupam Kher had signed on to another television series, this time for the BBC, called Mrs Wilson. Actress Ruth Wilson, who also serves as executive producer, headlines the project.
Interestingly, the series is inspired by the true story of Wilson's grandparents, Alec, a MI-6 agent and writer, and Alison, his third wife. The series will be set during 1940s to 1960s London. It focuses on Alison who discovers her husband's other life and another woman stating that she's the real Mrs Wilson. Alison then has to prove her life with Alec actually mattered.
Wilson stars as her grandmother Alison while Iain Glen, best known for his role on Game of Thrones, will star as Alec Wilson. Keeley Hawes and Fiona Shaw are also a part of the series. Kher will feature in the section of series when Alec moved to India in the 1930s to teach English literature and became a writer of spy novels.
Kher told the daily tabloid, Mumbai Mirror, that "Mrs Wilson is set against a very interesting backdrop and follows a gripping storyline. It had me hooked as I read it. It is also great to be a part of such a talented ensemble cast. I am looking forward to shooting with them next month."
He is currently filming for the upcoming book adaptation of The Accidental Prime Minister in the UK where he plays the title role of Manmohan Sigh. Mrs Wilson is written by Anna Symon and directed by Richard Laxton.
