Vishal thanks TN minister for announcing formation of Tamil Film Development Corporation

Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) president Vishal has thanked the Tamil Nadu government in general and the information and public relations department minister Kadambur Raju for announcing that a separate Tamil Film Development Corporation would be formed.

In a statement that was issued in Tamil this evening, Vishal said, “There have been no new releases in the Tamil film industry for the last one month and work pertaining to all films in the industry have come to a standstill as our protest in the form of a strike continues.

“At this juncture, the information and public relations department minister Kadambur Raju has announced that a separate corporation to address the needs and to take care of the welfare of the Tamil film industry will be formed. It may be recalled that one of the long standing demands of the TFPC has been the formation of a Tamil Film Development Corporation on the lines of the National Film Development Corporation. The TFPC and everybody else in the Tamil film industry thank the information and public relations department minister Kadambur Raju and the Tamil Nadu government for promising to form such a welfare corporation. We hope that the government will fulfill all the other requests made by the Tamil film industry soon.”

The TFPC, along with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) will take out a major rally in the city on Wednesday before meeting the chief minister with a set of demands pertaining to the Tamil film industry. A large number of actors, actresses, directors, producers, technicians and film industry workers are expected to participate in this rally. The delegation that will call on the chief minister will present a list of issues plaguing the film industry and will appeal to the government to intervene and resolve them.
