Director CV Rajendran dies at 81

Veteran movie director CV Rajendran, who was ailing for sometime, passed away in Chennai on Sunday (1 April). He was 81.
Rajendran has directed popular movies in Tamil like Galatta Kalyanam (1968), Sumathi En Sundari (1971) and Raja (1972) starring Sivaji Ganesan and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa.
He also directed other popular Tamil movies like Ponnoonjal (1973), Vani Rani (1974), Sivagamiyin Selvam (1974), Maalai Sooda Va (1975), Garjanai (1981) and several others starring Sivaji Ganesan, Jaishankar, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.
Hailing from a village near Madurantakam, Rajendran was related to another popular Tamil movie director CV Sridhar, with whom he worked during his initial days.
Apart from Tamil movies, Rajendran had also directed Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films.
