Several Hindi film stars have spoken up about the Kathua case, demanding justice for the 8-year-old girl, Ashifa Bano, who was abducted, raped and murdered in Rasana village near Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the launch of the patriotic song 'Ae Watan' from her upcoming film, Raazi, Alia Bhatt, too, expressed her anguish at the crime. "I have a big opinion on it. Not just Bollywood but the entire country is upset over this incident. People are upset at the humanitarian level. It's very disgraceful, shameful and a terrible thing that has happened. As a girl, woman, individual, human being, resident and part of this country I feel very bad and hurt that something like this has happened."
The actress, who plays the role of an Indian spy in Pakistan in the film, directed by Meghna Gulzar, said that the news disturbed her a lot, and so she has decided to stay away from reading about the incident.
"There was a time when I was reading a lot about the incident. But since last two days I have just parked it. I said, reading about it is going to make me more and more upset, angry and really really hurt. I had said in a tweet also that I really hope from my heart that justice is served," she said, adding, "I think as a country, people, part of society and media, I feel we all should all go out there and condemn it. This should not be happening to us constantly."
