Debutant filmmaker Karan Lalit Butani’s Phamous has been announced with its first poster. The film has a multi-star cast of Jimmy Shergill, Jackie Shroff, Pankaj Tripathi, Kay Kay Menon, Shriya Saran and Mahie Gill.

The poster has Shergill who is shooting someone with a rustic gun. He is standing in a countryside area. The old scooter next to him suggests that it’s a period film. The font used for Phamous also gives away the film's setting.

The poster has a long and interesting tagline which translates to, “Attitude of Chambal, a gun in hand and the power that flows from the barrel of the gun makes a man.” Going by the sentence and the poster it looks like the film is a dacoit or gangster drama, very much on the lines of Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012).

Phamous is Saran’s first Hindi film after her marriage, which took place last month. Her last Hindi film was Drishyam (2015), which was the official remake of the Malayalam film of the same name.

This is Shergill’s next with Gill after Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011) and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013). The two are also starring together in the third instalment of the franchise directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia.

Phamous will be released on 18 May.
