New release date for Daas Dev, to compete with Avengers film on 27 April

Director Sudhir Mishra's political, romantic drama has been delayed a fourth time.

Director Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev has been officially postponed to avoid competition at the box office.

Confirming the new release date, producer Sanjeev Kumar, Saptarishi Cinevision, said in a statement, “I trust my release partners — presenter and distributor. I believe they are doing a fabulous job back-end. We have a clutter free date now and every producer makes a film with this anticipation of a dream run, so have I. It really takes a lot of guts to take a hard stance which both Storm Pictures and Shringar films have displayed [sic]."

Yesterday, we had filed a report on Omerta and High Jack running into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). 20 April was to see as many as 20 films (including regional and English) in a box office tussle. However, Omerta and High Jack may not be released this week if they don’t get their censor certificate from the CBFC.

We wonder if the two Hindi films get pushed to the following week, how will it augur for Daas Dev? While there is no other Hindi film sceduled to be released on 27 April, Daas Dev will compete with the big ticket Hollywood release Avengers: Infinity War.

This is fourth time that Daas Dev has been postponed. The film was initially supposed to be released in January 2018, but it then got delayed three more times.

Daas Dev has Rahul Bhatt, Adit Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha in the leading cast.
