Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were roped in to walk the ramp for Manish Malhotra, but with both the actors falling ill, fans had come to believe that their reunion might not happen. However, the actors have finally been confirmed as participating in the charity ramp walk for Mijwan Welfare Society.
Malhotra's association with the Shabana Azmi-led NGO foundation dates back to 2009. The foundation funds the education and welfare of people in the village of Mijwan. The village is the ancestral home of poet Kaifi Azmi, father of the veteran actress.
The two actors had previously walked the ramp for Malhotra's label in 2008, but were not seen together. Considering their past relationship, it was rumoured that the actors would not like to walk the ramp together.
The annual charity event at Mijwan has seen several stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and Akshay Kumar take to the ramp for the designer.
Malhotra had given an indication of the star appearance by sharing an image of the time when the two actors had walked the ramp.
Speaking to IANS,a news agency, the designer said, "It gives me immense pleasure to share that Ranbir and Deepika will be walking the ramp for Mijwan, a project very close to my heart, on April 19 at JW Marriot. I am really glad that both Ranbir and Deepika's health allows them to walk for my show."
The event was scheduled to take place earlier in the month, but has been pushed to 19 April to the convenience of both stars. The event will be held at the JW Marriott in Mumbai.
