Prime minister Narendra Modi broke his silence on the Unnao and Kathua rape cases on Friday (13 April) and calling them "shameful". While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), yesterday, arrested BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the accused in the Unnao rape case, the Kathua rape case has seen no further development.
Female artistes from the Hindi film industry - from actresses Swara Bhaskar, Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Konkona Sensharma, Sai Tamhankar to filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava - held up placecards condemning the rapists and the lack of justice for the young victim.
Since then, more members of the Indian film industry have continued to voice their anger. Arjun Kapoor, Kajol, filmmaker-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, singer-composer Vishal Dadlani, Preity Zinta, Farhan Akhtar all spoke up on behalf of the 8-year-old Ashifa.
A life is lost a childhood taken & yet everything is politically connected leading to a so called secular country getting divided on caste & religion because that digresses from the reality that our country, the silent government & its leaders still don’t respect woman or lives. https://t.co/TRNyTB8E3r

As a Hindu-by-birth, I need to say this. The rapists & murderers of #Asifa & #Unnao, and those protecting them, DO NOT & NEVER WILL, REPRESENT HINDUISM!

We can come together as a people to protect the lives and rights of our women & children
OR
We can allow people to put personal agendas above law & humanity
What kind of nation do We want to be? #Justice #Kathua #Unnao
So disturbed after seeing this image, cannot just fathom what went through the satanic minds of those who committed this unspeakable crime to this beautiful innocent life. I pray that those devils who did this should be punished in the quickest & harshest way possible. ð #Asifa pic.twitter.com/MBC7jr0OEt

Until severe punishment, according to brutality of crime, unbailable sentencing, fast track special courts only for rape/murder.no legal loopholes, political will, law implemented. This horror will not cease.not guilty until proven.and when proven, make them Pay!
