Ayesha Shroff, wife of actor Jackie Shroff, was questioned by the Thane Crime Branch yesterday (12 April) in relation to the ongoing CDR (Call Data Records) scam. As per a report in Times of India, a daily, Ayesha was questioned for about four and a half hours. She is accused of allegedly sourcing her ex-boyfriend Sahil Khan's call records.

Ayesha had hired lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui to deal with Khan. But, reportedly, she cut off all professional relations with Siddiqui after learning about his illegal activities.

“She told us that while their dispute was on, a person had referred her to Rizwan Siddiqui for legal advice. The CDR of Sahil Khan was sourced to support their claims. Later, when Shroff came to know that this was illegal, she changed the lawyer,” the report quoted a cop as saying.

Siddiqui was arrested by the Thane crime branch on 16 March and remanded to custody till 23 March. On 21 March, justice SC Dharmadhikari and Justice PD Naik ordered his release.

In another development, detective Jignesh Chheda, who runs Maratha Detective Agency, has also been arrested. According to the police, two of the three CDRs sourced by another accused Mukesh Pandian were given to Chheda.

This is the thirteenth arrest in the case. The scam came to light after Siddiqui was arrested for allegedly buying CDRs of the wife of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
