Sunny Deol-starrer Bhaiyyaji Superhitt finally has a release date. The film will be out in theatres on 14 September this year. The makers also released a new poster to mark the announcement.
The film will see Deol in a double role for the first time in his 34-year long career. One of the two characters is that of a gangster who is eager to become a movie actor (a la Nana Patekar in Welcome?).
As per an official statement, “Bhaiyyaji Superhitt is a very funny, hilarious, colourful and larger than life yet emotional film. It showcases the coming together of two vastly different worlds of Bollywood and UP underworld [sic].”
Apart from Sunny, the film has an ensemble cast of Preity Zinta, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Ameesha Patel, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjai Mishra, Bijendra Kala, Jaideep Ahlawat and Mukul Dev.
The film is directed by Neeraj Pathak, whose last directorial was Right Yaa Wrong (2010) starring Deol along with Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sensharma. He started off as a writer who penned Apne (2007), which starred the Deol family together for the first time.
Talpade and Deol’s last film was Poster Boys (2017), which was helmed by Talpade himself.
Zinta’s last Hindi film was Ishkq In Paris (2013), which was produced by her.
