TV and film actress Kunickaa Sadanand alleges threat from Bishnoi community

The actress filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station after allegedly receiving threat calls from the community members.

TV and film actress Kunickaa Lal Sadanand has filed a complaint against the Bishnoi community alleging threats from anonymous members. Kunickaa filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station, Mumbai. The police is now providing her security.

Kunickaa had appeared on a television news debate wherein she said that actor Salman Khan, who has been convicted in the 1998 blackbucks poaching case, should be not given jail term, but he should do community service for the Bishnois.

“During television debates on the blackbucks poaching case, I was advocating that instead of punishing Salman, the Bishnoi community should use him as an example and not oppose the bail. Ideally, he should be made to do some work for the community, like breeding blackbucks, adopting a jungle etc. On one such panel discussion last week, I said that even Bishnois are hunters. I wanted to add that just like there are non-vegetarians in vegetarian communities, likewise... but I was interrupted by the anchor,” Kunickaa told Bombay Times.

Kunickaa's words were not taken kindly and she claimed she had been getting messages and calls from people, allegedly from the members of the Bishnoi community.

An Oshiwara police official confirmed to us that Kunickaa had filed such a complaint and they are currently investigating it. A case has been filed under section 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the Indian Penal Code.
