After announcing an innovative title, Daas Dev, with a new twist on the legend of Devdas, Sudhir Mishra is now out with a unique way to describe his protagonist, Dev, in the 'Rap' song. Mishra himself has done the playback, and he, along with Saurabh Shukla, features in the song too.

The song was released in a Facebook post that introduced it as ' decoding the thought behind Daas Dev'. "Decoding the thought behind Daas Dev! The most formidable director-actor duo, #SudhirMishra & Saurabh Shukla, come together in the most innovative way! Here's the #DaasDevRapSong!" the post read.
The track looks more like a recital where Mishra and Shukla alternatively describe the good, the bad and the worse traits of the principal character Dev (Rahul Bhatt). Who is Dev? Is he a king, a slave, or both? The duo throw up various conjectures in the song.

Gaurav Solanki has penned the Hindi rap, Anshu Sharma has contributed the English lyrics. While the lyrics are not very flattering, it is the entertaining score, with a touch of jazz, by Satya Manik Afsar that drives the quick number.
Mishra raps in an intense, deep voice and Shukla, though only lip syncing, plays his part to the T. The actor had earlier crooned a few words in the Ranbir Kapoor musical Jagga Jasoos (2017).
