After being screened at Busan, Chicago and Mumbai, Dipesh Jain's In The Shadows (Gali Guleiyan) will be screened in USA at three different film festivals.

The psychological drama stars Manoj Bajpayee as a reclusive shopkeeper who feels the need to help his neighbour, a young boy, who is abused by his father.

In The Shadows review: Less of a psychological thriller, more of an emotional journey

The film will first be screened at the 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival, that begins on 10 April, as a part of the New Direction competition. Other films in the section are I Am Not A Witch (2017), Montparnasse Bienvenue (2017), A Trip To The Moon (2017) and American Animals (2018).

Next, the film will open the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles on 11 April. Other Indian films like Hansal Mehta's Omerta (2018) and Rima Das's Village Rockstars (2017) will also be screened at the festival.

Finally, In The Shadows will be screened on 17 April at the Atlanta Film Festival, to be held from 13 to 22 April 2018. Reema Sengupta's short film Counterfeit Kunkoo will also be screened in competition in the New Mavericks section.

Dipesh Jain studied film at the University of Southern California Film School and is a recipient of the Director’s Guild Of America (DGA) Student Award.

Jain revealed his excitement in a statement, “When Shuchi (my sister and producer) and I started this journey of making Gali Guleiyan, we felt that it was a bold and risky story especially for a debut film. But it's a story very close to our hearts and takes you into the depths of human mind and emotions. In many ways it is an ode to my growing up years in the alleys of old Delhi-to my personal fears and a feelings of entrapment that I experienced as a child.

"I have been extremely blessed to have an ensemble cast of brilliant actors, each of whom has breathed life into the characters they played with such élan! To ensure the best look and feel for our audience, we have ensured that top-of-the-line technicians worked on it. Currently, in a successful festival run, we are now looking forward to its theatrical release worldwide in May."

Lead actor Manoj Bajpayee, who will be attending the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles said, “Gali Guleiyan is a film that I am reluctant to let go of. For long, I have held it close to my heart. And now, seeing the audience response has made it more special not just for me but for everyone involved in the film.

"Kudos to our director Dipesh Jain for the clarity that he brought with him and to the entire team for giving it their very best. While looking forward to yet another round of international film festival screenings, I'm most excited for its release in India and worldwide in May."

Artistes Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami and newcomer Om Singh are also a part of Jain's film.

In The Shadows won the Grand Jury prize at the 19th Mumbai Film Festival last year and is due to be released in India and around the world in May 2018.
