Drishtikone trailer: What happens when a married advocate is drawn to a beautiful client

The music and trailer of Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming film Drishtikone were launched yesterday at the Acropolis mall in Kolkata.

Apart from the director, protagonists Prasenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, music composer Anupam Roy, vocalists Iman Chakraborty and Rupankar and debut singer Paloma Majumdar were present.

The music launch was conducted with a live performance of each song by the vocalists. Composer and lyricist Roy and Iman Chakraborty performed 'Amar Dukkho', Majumdar enchanted the audience with a soulful rendition of 'Lokkhiti', while Rupankar enjoyed himself while performing 'Keu Keu Jane'. Later, on a request by the director himself, Roy performed 'Lokkhiti' unplugged.

“This is my first work with Prasenjit and Rituparna. All I can say is that no such romantic thriller has been made featuring this superhit pair," Ganguly said.

“Anupam composed these songs long before the film was finalized," he said. "When I heard those songs, I was so impressed that I told him to keep them so that I could use them later in my film as a return gift. Both the lyrics and the music are different from all of Anupam’s previous works. I am seriously confused which of these is going to be the best song of the year!”

Talking about 'Lokkhiti', Roy said Ganguly was initially not impressed with the song; however, later on, the director found it to be apt for the mood of his film.

Iman Chakraborty, who won the National award for her rendition of 'Tumi Jake Bhalobaso' in Praktan (2016), also starring Prasenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, said, “When I first read about the film in a daily and saw the star cast, I secretly wished to sing for it and as destiny would have it, Kaushikda soon approached me for the song.”

Chatterjee said, “I must tell all of you that Kaushik Ganguly is one of the directors whose films have nationwide viewers and who is also a key figure in changing the course of Bengali cinema.

“For long Kaushikda could not really conceive of a film relying on me. Now, after 14 years of vanvaas and Praktan, he has finally featured both Rituparna and me in his film. I sincerely believe that the Bengali audience watches good films and that is why these days films on various themes are being made and the quality of melody and lyrics in modern songs has improved.”

The trailer, which was also released, is extremely dramatic and intense, and promises an unusual love story between married advocate Mr Mitra (Chatterjee) and his client Ms Sen (Sengupta).

The case offered by Sen requires Mitra’s continuous and regular involvement, which eventually strengthens the friendship between the two. With the progress of the case, the dynamics of their relationship change, too. It seems that while the protagonists struggle with their bond, Mrs Mitra (Churni Ganguly) also faces the consequences.

The director himself has also acted in the film and said he missed Churni Ganguly, a key figure in the movie, on the occasion.

Drishtikone is scheduled to be released on 27 April. Meanwhile, watch the trailer here.
