Secret Superstar song: 'Meri Pyaari Ammi' is a simple, but heartfelt tribute to a mother

Words are never enough to praise a mother. It’s always an emotional bond that defines it. That is exactly the feeling 'Meri Pyaari Ammi' track from Secret Superstar evokes.

After launching her first You Tube video, Insiya (Zaira Wasim) dedicates her next song to her mother. This is not just a song, but Insiya’s pure love. Naturally, the song does not need glorious lyrics. Kausar Munir’s simple ode flows straight from the heart, justifying the emotion lurking within.  

The simplicity of the lyrics are matched by heartfelt visuals where we get a snapshot of the beautiful relationship that Insiya shares with her mother, played by Meher Vij. The visuals focus on the sensitive mother-child bond between the two.

Unlike the 'Main Kaun Hoon' track which had a natural rhythm, 'Meri Pyaari Ammi' is not an easy song to sing. The words don’t rhyme, and the lyrics do not flow smoothly. 15-year-old Meghna Mishra goes a bit off-key in her singing, but she cannot be blamed. She will only get better with age, when she will have better understanding of how to mesh emotions into her voice. Despite the flaw, she manages to pull it off commendably.

The song largely rises on the power of its lyrics, and Amit Trivedi's minimalistic music helps it on the way. The composition is kept at a bare minimum, but it's music compliments the whole song.

In all, the 'Meri Pyaar Ammi' song is a child’s simple, but priceless, tribute to her mother.

Produced by Aamir Khan, who is also acting in the film, Secret Superstar is said to be released on Diwali this year.
