The two new Hindi releases had quite a buzz around them, but sadly Poster Boys and Daddy have failed to live up to expectations. Shreyas Talpade’s directorial debut Poster Boys could only collect around Rs1.75 crore nett, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film, starring brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol and Talpade himself, is made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore, and has been released across 1,000 screens in India. The film faces a tough task to recover its basic cost.

Ashim Ahluwalia’s Daddy, too, had a poor opening as it could only get around Rs1.25 crore nett. Based on the life of gangster Arun Gawli, the film has an estimated budget of Rs20-22 crore and is said to have been released in around 1,200 screens.
Daddy review: Gripping crime thriller and stoic defence of a convict
Trade analyst Vinod Merani says, "As per early estimates, both films have had a poor opening. Poster Boys may be around Rs1.75 crore, while Daddy could be Rs30-40 lakh lesser. Poster Boys has been made in Marathi before, and while it has a mass appeal, it remains to be seen how it works pan-India. As for Daddy, its market is likely to be restrictied to Mumbai and Maharashtra."
Meanwhile, the preceding week’s releases — Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan — had contrasting fortunes. Despite having a more screen (2,800) and a big budget (Rs80 crore), the Ajay Devgn action thriller Baadshaho could earn only Rs1.50 crore nett on its second Friday. The film has so far bagged Rs55.75 crore nett and is unlikely to touch the Rs80-crore mark to recover its basic cost.

As opposed to Baadshaho, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan got Rs1.50 crore nett on its second Friday and in the process, it has recovered its basic cost (Rs25 crore). The film, that was released across 1,400 screens, has so far earned Rs25.25 crore nett.
