Sanjay Dutt's addiction to smoking is no news. However, the 58 year-old actor shared an anecdote of an unplesant experience with his father, late Sunil Dutt.
At a promotional event for Sanjay's comeback film Bhoomi, he was asked how his father reacted when he first learnt of Sanjay smoking.
“Bahot joote padhe the (I was thoroughly thrashed),” the actor told Deccan Chronicle. What followed next wasn’t pleasing at all.
"My father had caught me smoking in the bathroom. He took me inside the room, and thrashed me. I know I need to stop smoking. I will attempt it once again, soon,” added the actor.
The upcoming film is a revenge drama, with Sanjay playing the father and Aditi Rao Hydari the daughter. At the event, Sanjay also expressed shock at the increasing sexual crimes against women, “Women are symbols of Goddess Durga and Laxmi. When we pray to them, how on earth can anyone behave in such a manner with them? So when I got a chance to work in Bhoomi, I was more than happy to be a part of the film,” he said.
Bhoomi is set to be released on 22 September.
