Director R S Prasanna’s Shubh Mangal Saavdhan didn’t get a good opening on its first day. But the Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar starrer is slowly but steadily climbing the box office ladder through some positive word-of-mouth and reviews.
By Tuesday, 5 September, the film had earned a decent Rs19.29 crore, approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
After a filmmaker's first film manages to impress the audience, there is an obvious interest in knowing his/her next project. While talking to a news agency, Prasanna revealed titbits about his next project. “Nothing is fixed as such, but yes, in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, I have explored what it is to be a man. In the next, which I have in mind, I am taking it to another level,” he said.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan explored the social beliefs around erectile dysfunction. Prasanna added that his next will deal with a subject that is also not discussed in the open. “It will have the same humour, relatability, honesty, which is tough. It will also have a very controversial subject, which I believe should not be controversial but talked about openly,” he added.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is the remake of his own Tamil hit Kalyana Samayal Saadham (2013), which starred actor Prasanna and Lekha Washington.
