Milind Dhaimade's tryst with Hindi cinema begins with a wonderfully, quirky little film, Tu Hai Mera Sunday. Starring Barun Sobti, Shahana Goswami, Rasika Dugal and Vishal Malhotra among others, the film has already travelled to several international film festivals including the JIO MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2016 and the British Film Institute Festival London (2016), the 17th New York Indian Film Festival 2016, Cinequest Film Festival 2017, among others.
The trailer of the film released today, and carries within it the story of a film with a heart. Tu Hai Mera Sunday begins with five 30-something friends who often get together to play football on Juhu Beach. In a city starved of privacy and places, the group of friends are waging a losing battle. It gets complicated further when a politician gets hit by their football during a game. Now, the friends have no place to play, and decide to fight back.
The trailer manages to catch the little quirks of living in the city of Mumbai, including couples struggling for space and time, cramped rooms that are rat infested, and the joy of playing football. With actors like Rasika Dugal and Shahana Goswami, Barun Sobti, the trailer offers a combination of wit, joy and struggles that are very relatable.
Tu Hai Mera Sunday is set to release in theatres on 6 September.
