Chef song 'Shugal Laga Le': Flavoursome visuals, powerful music make it a treat to watch

After a thoroughly entertaining trailer, the makers of Chef have released their first track 'Shugal Laga Le', a musical slice-of-life track. 

The first thing that leaves you intrigued is what does this ‘Shugal’ means? Perhaps, Ankur Tewari is the best person to explain the meaning. Tewari has penned a very simple, slice-of-life track that summarizes the life of chef Roshan Kalra (Saif Ali Khan). He loved his work and barely spent time with his son. The 'Shugal Laga Le' track is a sweet redemption for Kalra as he shares some priceless moments with his son, family and friend in Kerala.

The well thought lyrics are backed by a melange of tunes (bass, acoustic guitar, banjo, and live percussions) that simply leave you hooked to the track until the end.

Raghu Dixit would score a ten out of ten for the delightful music but, unfortunately, the same cannot be said about his singing. His voice lacks an appeal. You wouldn’t label his effort as poor, but Dixit’s average singing does not do justice to the tunes. And Dixit has no one else to blame but himself. 

What works for the song is the powerful music and the joyful visuals that make the Shugal Laga Le a sweet number. 

Chef is set to be released on 6 October.
