Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is among the sought after stars in Tamil cinema at the moment, says he likes R Panneerselvam, director of his upcoming film Karuppan, for a number of reasons.

Addressing the media at a function organized to launch the audio of the film, Vijay Sethupathi said, “Karuppan has been directed by Panneerselvam, the man who made the hit film Renigunta. There are a few things I like about Panneerselvam. To be specific, I like his patience, honesty and integrity. But more importantly, what I like most about him is his ability to not speak ill of anybody.

“I started trying to get into cinema from 2004. I managed to become a hero only in 2010. Even I would crib about at least 50 people whom I had met during the years I was trying to get into the industry. But Panneerselvam, who has had to wait for almost eight years after delivering a hit like Renigunta for his next film, has never complained even once in all the days we worked together. In fact, I have not seen him utter a single complaint.

"I was patiently waiting that he would open up someday and talk about how he had been wronged and how much he had suffered. But that never happened. The man never spoke ill of even a single person.”

Sethupathi, who has been delivering back-to-back hits in Tamil, said Karuppan would be a commercial entertainer. “This is a very simple story that has been told so very often. It is a simple love story of a husband and wife. This film looks to showcase how love, when put to the test, doubles in strength,” he explained.
