After bagging three National Awards for Best Direction (Rajesh Mapuskar), Best Editing (Rameshwar S Bhagat) and Best Audiography (Alok De), Marathi film Ventilator (2016) continues to earn accolades. The film, produced by Priyanka Chopra, is now being adapted into a Gujarati play.

Well-known theatre director Rajesh Joshi will adapt it to the stage. He is known for the acclaimed Code Mantra, which is considered one of the most expensive plays in Gujarati.

Delighted by the association, Dr Madhu Chopra, who handles Priyanka’s production, said while talking to Mid-Day newspaper, “It’s a rare occasion where a film is being adapted into a play. The film made us proud on the national level and I hope people shower the same love towards it when it comes on stage.”

Dr Madhu is happy that there won’t be any changes in the script. “We are glad that he is making it because he knows what he wants. Joshi is not making any changes to the script, he's simply adapting it to suit the sensibilities of the Gujarati audience. I have read a few scenes and they have been written well,” she said.

Moreover, as Mapuskar is also the creative consultant, they are least worried. “With him on board, Priyanka and I know that it is in safe hands,” she said.

Starring Ashutosh Gowariker, Jitendra Joshi, Satish Alekar and whole lot of other actors, Ventilator was one of the very few successful Marathi movies of 2016.
