After calling him an irresponsible filmmaker, Rishi Kapoor continued to slam Anurag Basu for the failure of Jagga Jassoos. All through the storm, Basu was a picture of dignity, playing down the criticism. What gave him confidence was the unflinching support from his leading man, Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir.
Ranbir defended Basu saying his father Rishi was merely being protective of his son. The filmmaker has now thanked Ranbir for the support.
“It is sweet of him [Ranbir] to say [such] things. It is difficult to give a statement like that,” Basu told the Press Trust of India news agency.
The filmmaker said that despite Jagga Jasoos failing, he would like to work with Ranbir Kapoor again.
In an interview with actress Neha Dhupia on her audio talk show #NoFilterNeha, Rishi Kapoor had slammed both Basu and Anurag Kashyap as filmmakers who could not handle projects with big budgets. Kashyap had directed the dud Bombay Velvet (2015) with Ranbir in the lead.
Basu, though, preferred to take the criticism positively. “I am happy with the statement as today people know Anurag Basu and Anurag Kashyap are two different people. I am not hurt. When you make a film you get both good and not-so-good feedback,” he said.
