The yet to be titled film will be directed by Kabir Khan. The news was shared by the PR agency handling the film on Twitter. “@RanveerOfficial will turn cricketer #KapilDev in @kabirkhankk's Biggest sports film set to reminisce 83's World Cup!@SpiceSocial1,” said the statement.

It is not known as to who will play the rest of the team members.

The film is yet another addition to the long list of upcoming sports biopics. The list includes films on badminton players P Gopinath, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, rifle shooter Abhinav Bindra and hockey player Balbir Singh.

Ranveer will be seen next in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s keenly-awaited Padmavati, which will be released on 1 December. Also starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, the film is based on queen Padmavati of Mewar.
