A new poster of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's delayed film, Padmavati, has been released, with Shahid Kapoor in full display of royalty as the King of Chittorgarh, Rawal Ratan Singh. The first poster of the film was released last week with Deepika Padukone in the avatar of legendary queen Padmavati.

Two new posters from the film were released today, 25 September, featuring Kapoor. One poster has the actor striking a kingly pose in the foreground, as the siege of Chittor rages on in the background. The wounds on Kapoor's character suggest the fatal nature of the siege that the film looks to capture.

It was Maharaja Ratan Singh who led the defense of the city, under attack by Allauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh).

The 36-year old actor has undergone an intense physical transformation in order to play the Maharaja, and it is beginning to show. The second poster features the actor in a more serene look. He is seen looking off into the distance, with a tilak on his forehead and cut on his cheek.

Kapoor shared the poster on his social media page, while also praising the King in Hindi, he wrote, "Raja Ratan Singh. Symbol of courage, wisdom and respect [translation]."

Padmavati has been quite delayed due to several problems with the Rajput Karni Sena. The Sena have objected to Bhansali's portrayal of Padmavati and carried out protests after the release of the first poster. The Sena have also asked the director to organize a pre-release screening for the core committee of the organization.

Padmavati also stars Ranveer Singh, Jim Sarbh, among others. The film is slated to be released on 1 December.
