Director Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho got an average start at the box office yesterday, 1 September. The Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Ileana D’Cruz starrer has earned Rs10.25 crore approximately on the opening day, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film’s opening has been better than Devgn’s last movie Shivaay (2016), which made Rs9.19 crore, approximately. But that film had clashed with a biggie like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).
Baadshaho review: Tried and tested action saga has more style than substance
Baadshaho is reportedly made at a high cost of Rs80 crore. It needs a good jump today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) for the producers to be happy. However, the journey would be difficult for the film from here on since it isn’t receiving a positive word-of-mouth either.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan also released yesterday. The film has had a low opening of Rs2.50 crore. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is reportedly made at a budget of Rs25 crore.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan review: Laugh riot that makes a great point
The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, still has a chance since its reviews and word-of-mouth have been very positive. If it gets a good jump during the remaining weekend, its journey might be similar to that of Bareilly Ki Barfi, which has so far made Rs26.89 crore, approximately. The film was reportedly made at a cost of Rs20 crore.
