Actress abduction case: Kerala HC to hear Dileep's 5th bail plea on 26 September

The courts earlier rejected four bail pleas by Dileep — twice each in the Angamaly Magistrate Court and the Kerala High Court.

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday, 19 September, posted actor Dileep's fifth bail application hearing in the Malayalam actress abduction case for next week.

The actor has been in jail since July over his alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the case. The courts earlier rejected four bail pleas by Dileep — twice each in the Angamaly Magistrate Court and the Kerala High Court.

Posting the matter for September 26, the High Court asked the state government to give its opinion in the case on that day.

Dileep has been questioned twice and was arrested soon after the second round of interrogation on July 10. Since then he has been languishing in the Aluva sub-jail.

On Monday, the trial court had rejected his fourth bail plea.

The High Court on September 25 will also hear the anticipatory bail pleas of his actress-wife Kavya Madhavan, and close friend and actor-director Nadirsha in the same case.

The abduction had taken place in February this year, when the actress was on her way from Thrissur to Kochi.

She was taken around in her vehicle forcefully for about two hours before being left near actor-director Lal's home, from where police was informed.

The key accused — Pulsar Suni and his accomplices involved in the actual abduction — were arrested a week later. After detailed questioning, police unearthed a conspiracy angle that led to Dileep's arrest.
