Malayalam actress abduction: Dileep's fourth bail plea rejected

The actor had earlier appealed in the Angamaly Magistrate Court, and then twice in the Kerala High Court.

In what is being seen as yet another setback for actor Dileep, who has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the kidnap and sexual assault of a popular south Indian actress, a court today turned down his fourth bail plea.

The plea was turned down by the Magistrate Court in Angamaly today, 18 September, where it came up for hearing. It may be recalled that Dileep had filed his first bail plea in this court. Subsequently, after it was turned down, Dileep chose to approach the Kerala High Court, which turned down his bail pleas twice.

The actor, who is fast running out of options, again filed a bail plea in the Magistrate Court in Angamaly.

Dileep's lawyer pointed out that the prosecution had not filed the additional charge sheet within 60 days of the actor's arrest and therefore sought bail for the actor. However, the prosecution opposed the request, stating that the actor was a very influential person and letting him out at a time the investigation was at a crucial stage wouldn't be advisable.
