Italian actress Monica Bellucci will visit India in October for the first time, attending the 19th edition of MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. She will be honoured with a special award.
The actress announced her scheduled visit in a statement, “I am very touched and honoured to receive an award by the Mumbai Film Festival as well as presenting some of my films there. It is very exciting to come to India for the first time. Thank you MAMI for the invitation.”
Two of her films, Irreversible (2002) and On The Milky Road (2016), will also be shown as part of a retrospective during the festival.

Bellucci will arrive in Mumbai after attending Spain's San Sebastian Festival from 22-30 September, 2017, where she will be awarded with the Donostia Lifetime Award, alongside filmmaker Agnès Varda and Argentine actor-filmmaker Ricardo Darín.
MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, which runs from 12–18 October, will open with Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz, starring Vineet Kumar Singh, Zoya Hussain and Jimmy Shergill. The film will compete under the India Gold section with Devashish Makhija's Ajji, Shlok Sharma's Zoo, Rima Das's Village Rockstars, Karma Takapa's Ralang Road, among others.
