Shah Rukh Khan's Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) had great hype surrounding it. After all, it was the first Imtiaz Ali film with SRK, as Khan is popularly known, and the superstar was also teaming up with Anushka Sharma for the first time since Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). The film is said to have been made at a cost of Rs120 crore.
Expectations of the film were high, but Jab Harry Met Sejal turned out to be a turkey, collecting barely Rs57 crore nett across India. Naturally, NH Studioz, which distributed the film, suffered huge losses. The Narendra Hirawat-owned distribution company had obtained the theatrical rights to the film.
Now, over a month after the film's release, when most of those associated with it would probably like to forget it, producer Red Chillies Entertainment has released a 'behind-the-scenes' video that tells us why director Imtiaz Ali likes to shoot at exotic locations.
"I don’t know whether I make movies or write stories that bring me to such places [or] I come to such places and therefore write stories and make movies like the ones that I do. And now I don't even think about it, I don't worry about which comes first in this case, the chicken or the egg,” Ali says in the video.
Given the criticism the film has faced, and the huge losses it has suffered, the statement is unlikely to leave a good taste in Hirawat's mouth. Watch the video below:
