A Gentleman director denies giving Farzi script to Harshvardhan Kapoor

In a bizarre case, an actor reportedly rejected a film because he didn’t like the script. There was only one problem though: neither is the script ready nor did the writer-director approach the actor.

The actor caught in the muddle is Harshvardhan Kapoor. Towards the end of August, reports said Arjun Kapoor had rejecting Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s Farzi and passed it on to his cousin, Harshvardhan Kapoor.

A report in the DNA newspaper then said Harshvardhan did not like his cousin recommending him for a film. Now entertainment portal BollywoodHungama.com has reported that Harshvardhan has been telling friends he did not like the script for Farzi and so rejected the film.

However, writer-director Raj Nidimoru has denied ever offering the film to Harshvardhan, son of actor Anil Kapoor. So the question of the Mirzya (2016) actor rejecting it does not arise.

“I haven’t given the script of Farzi to anybody for reading," Nidimoru told the website. "I don’t know how he got the script, but I haven’t given it to him. Harsh had called me to express interest in Farzi, but we haven’t had time to sit and chat as he has been busy prepping for his next film [Bhavesh Joshi]. Maybe one of these days we will sit and discuss the project. [But] we haven’t worked on the complete script; we just have the base script, as we are on a break after A Gentleman.”

The director added that he and his creative partner are writing the sequel to Go Goa Gone (2013) and are only likely to begin work on Farzi thereafter.

“We still have to sit down and write it properly and it will take off probably after a few weeks, so I don’t know who is saying what," Nidimoru said. "We are writing the script of the sequel to Go Goa Gone first and once I am done with that I will focus on Farzi. With Farzi right now, I haven’t even written a proper draft. We don’t know which film I will do first as we are not in a hurry.”
