After donning a turban and playing uncle to real-life nephew, Arjun Kapoor in Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan, Anil Kapoor is changing appearances yet again for Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan. The actor plays father to 18-year-old newcomer Piyu Sand in the film produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and has dyed his hair grey for the role.

Apparently, it took more than 50 hours and five days to perfect his salt-and-pepper look. Nearly two weeks ago, he had shared a short video of hair stylist Avan Contractor working on his hair in the salon. She had also done his hair for Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) in which he also sported grey streaks.

The 60-year-old actor has also been working on his physique to prepare for the role, even as he suffered an ankle injury earlier this year and flew to Germany to get it treated. Anil used different workouts and took over a month to get in shape.

While sharing his photographs of Fanney Khan’s look, Anil also revealed a few tidbits of the man he plays in the film. He wrote, “#Fanney is a man of simple tastes. It's his circumstances that are complicated.”

Furthermore, his caption seemed to indicate that Fanney Khan is not a man to be trifled with. His tweet said, “#FanneyKhan has many faces, but don't be fooled by his appearance...He's hiding a whole world of secrets under that silver hair!”

Fanney Khan is an official remake of the Oscar-nominated Dutch film Everybody’s Famous (2000) from Belgium and began shooting on 3 September. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta are also a part of Fanney Khan’s cast.
