In an interview to news agency PTI, Madhavan has cleared that he opted out of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Fanney Khan due to conflict with dates.
“I loved the script and was really keen to be part of an interesting ensemble like Fanney Khan, unfortunately I couldn't commit to the project due to date issues. I wish the team of Fanney Khan all the luck,” Mahdavan said.
Reports of R Madhavan doing the role had made rounds earlier, along with rumours that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is one of the leads in the film, preferred Rao instead of Madhavan.
The building controversy was nipped in the bud with Mehra's Tweet welcoming Rao to Fanney Khan family.
Though unfortunate, producer Prernaa Arora hopes to work with the actor in future. She said, "I think Madhavan is one of the finest actors we have today. I look forward to working with him in the future".
While it is clear that Madhavan will not be seen in Fanney Khan, the actor's next Hindi project is Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s Chanda Mama Door Ke, where he will be playing one of the astronauts.
