Ittefaq remake will feature remixed song from Amitabh Bachchan's Namak Halaal

The song, 'Raat Baaqi Baat Baaqi', sung by Bappi Lahiri and Asha Bhonsle, will be recreated by Tanishk Baghi.

Add the Ittefaq remake to the list of films this year that have 'borrowed' a classic Hindi film song as part of its soundtrack. But the film, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna, is, in fact, a songless film like the 1969 BR Chopra produced film.

Co-producer Juno Chopra told PTI, "We will have a promotional song but it won't be part of the film. We have got this song 'Raat Baaki Baat Baaki'. It will be composed by Tanishk Bagchi." Chopra also revealed that Malhotra and Sinha would be a part of the song.

The original 'Raat Baaki Baat Baaki', was written by Anjaan and composed by Bappi Lahiri, was also sung by the bejewelled composer, accompanied by singer Asha Bhonsle for Prakash Mehra's Namak Halaal (1982). It was set on a boat and picturized on Shashi Kapoor and Parveen Babi. Amitabh Bachchan and Smita Patil were also a part of the cast.

Revisiting BR Films’ original Ittefaq

Composer-singer Bagchi has 'recreated' seven older Hindi film songs this year alone for films like Ok Jaanu and Baadshaho. His songs 'The Humma Song' from Ok Jaanu, 'Tamma Tamma Again' from Badrinath Ki Dulhania and 'Socha Hai' from Baadshaho have topped the music charts in 2017. His last remake was the Daler Mehndi's 'Kudiya Shehai Di' from Poster Boys.

Ittefaq, directed by BR Chopra's grandson Abhay, is due to be released on 3 November.
