Sushant Singh Rajput to play lead in Mukesh Chhabra's directorial debut

Mukesh Chhabra is taking a leap from casting director to director with the Indian remake of the Hollywood hit, The Fault In Our Stars (2014) starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. It looks like Chhabra has gotten his leading man for the project. Sushant Singh Rajput, who Chhabra helped cast in his first film Kai Po Che! (2013), will star in the film.

Chhabra confirmed the project and told the newspaper Mumbai Mirror, "Yes, I am on board for the The Fault In Our Stars remake. I'm working on the script at the moment. Sushant is the leading man and we are still in the process of casting the heroine."
The remake will be produced by Fox Star Studios and is due to start filming next year. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the film's status on Twitter.

The Hollywood film was adapted from John Green's best-selling novel of the same name. The book, is the love story of teenagers Hazel Lancaster and Augustus Waters who meet at a Cancer Kid Support Group, debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and was chosen as TIME magazine’s #1 Fiction Book of 2012.
