Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt deposed before a special court for Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in Mumbai on Wednesday, 4 October, in a case against the Ravi Pujari gang for threatening him and his family members, as reported by the news aganecy, Press Trust of India.
Early in March this year, Mahesh had informed the police about the death threats he received from anonymous callers.
Special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said Mahesh deposed as a witness and supported the prosecution's case. The filmmaker reportedly told the court that he was receiving death threats from the gang against himself, his brother Mukesh, wife Soni Razdan, daughter Alia and son Rahul.
Post Mahesh’s complaint, the Mumbai police had arrested over a dozen gang members of the gang. According to the prosecution Pujari, who is said to be living abroad, wanted to revive his activities in the city and targeted the Bhatt family to bring the gang in the spotlight again.
