Actor Dileep, who was arrested for allegedly masterminding the kidnap and sexual assault of a popular south Indian actress, on Tuesday heaved a sigh of relief as the Kerala High Court finally granted him bail in the sensational case that has been garnering attention ever since it first broke out.
It may be recalled that Dileep had applied for bail four times before today's plea and that on all four earlier occasions, his pleas was turned down by the courts.
Although the Court has granted the bail, it has also imposed several conditions. First, he will have to pay up a bond of Rs1 lakh and surrender his passport. He will also have to present himself for questioning before the investigating team whenever they want him for questioning. The actor has also been asked not to try to influence or interfere in the course of the investigation of the case.
The actor, who was arrested on 10 July, had been lodged in the Aluva sub jail, where he spent 86 days in custody.
The news is bound to come as a huge relief to the actor, who has had to face a tumultous time ever since he was arrested in connection with the case.
