Rajkummar Rao wins Best Actor at 8th Chicago South Asian Film Festival

The actor was adjudged best performer at the festival for his act in Amit Masurkar's Newton.

Rajkummar Rao is scaling new heights in 2017. Having delivered two superb performances in Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Newton (2017), the actor continues to be a critic favourite at festivals across the world. Rajkummar was recently awarded the Best Actor at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival 2017.

The festival which took place between 29 September-1 October, saw a number of Indian films including Trapped, Sonata, Newton, Gurgaon, among others screened. In its 8th edition, the Chicago South Asian Film Festival sought to bring together afficianados of Asian films and filmmakers to the heartland of Chicago.

The festival saw luminaries like Aparna Sen, Shabana Azmi, Adil Hussain, Akshay Oberoi, as well as Tu Hai Mera Sunday actors Barun Sobti and Shahana Goswami in attendance.

Rao posted a picture of himself with the award on his Twitter, saying 'Thank you, #CSAFF for this prestigious award.'

Fanney Khan will see the actor star alongside Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a comedy.
