Sonakshi Sinha joins Diana Penty in Happy Bhag Jayegi sequel

Actress Sonakshi Sinha is joining the original Happy, Diana Penty, in the sequel to the 2016 surprise hit. Director Mudassar Aziz confirmed Sinha’s casting on Twitter writing, “So yesssss @sonakshisinha is my Happy 2!!! And I am very proud to bring her to you! Kill it Sonaaaaa”

Producer Aanand L Rai and director Aziz then shared photographs of the two actresses, with Sinha wearing a t-shirt that said ‘Happy’. The upcoming project is to likely be titled Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns.

Furthermore, both Penty and Sinha tweeted about their excitement to begin the Happy Bhag Jayegi sequel. Both tweets included a few ‘happy’ puns. Penty exclaimed, “Happy days here again!,” while Sinha captioned the photograph of the producer, director and actresses as “Its one big HAPPY family (sic)”.

Back in May, Sonakshi Sinha was rumoured to replace Diana Penty in the sequel. However, both Sinha's management team and Rai's Colour Yellow Productions would only say that they were discussing the film.
So far, only Sinha and Penty have been announced. Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016) also featured Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill and Piyush Mishra and we await further news from the production team to see if they will return for the sequel too.
