After Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor revealed their looks as Rani Padmavati and Rawal Ratan Singh in Padmavati, Ranveer Singh's turn has finally arrived. The actor posted two posters on Twitter featuring himself as the ferociously evil Alauddin Khilji on Tuesday (3 October) morning to the joy of fans.

The posters show off the secret look that Singh has kept under wraps throughout the shooting of the film. While the actor did not shy away from sporting his long beard and hair at events, the totality of Alauddin Khilji's appearance in the film was kept firmly under wraps, and for good reason.

The first poster features a bare-bodied Singh staring straight into the camera with brooding, kohl-lined eyes. His long dark mane adds to the fierce background, which depicts the unfolding of an impending battle. The casual nature of the picture contrasts the intensity in the actor's eyes. The scar below his eye only highlights the warlike nature of the man, despite his casual and hedonistic pose.

The second poster is a contrast, but focuses firmly on the ambition and craziness in Khilji's nature. Dressed in full regalia, with an ornate crown, the sultan is shown staring into a mirror with a wild look. The scar below his eye is a lot more prominent in this poster and depicts the cost he paid for the glory he enjoys.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been battling constant protests by an organization called the Rajput Karni Sena since its shooting began, and has been suffering delays due to these obstructions. The film's teaser was expected to be released on Dussehra but has been delayed in production.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh in vital roles. The film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and is expected to be released on 1 December this year.
