Tamil actor Vijay thanks supporters for Mersal's success


In a letter written in Tamil, posted on Mersal's official Twitter page, the actor expressed gratitude to all his supporters.

Tamil actor Vijay, leading man in the film Mersal (2017) that ran into controversies for its dialogues against the goods and services tax (GST), had been silent so far. However, on Wednesday, 25 October, the actor thanked all those who stood in support of him and the film.

In a letter written in Tamil, posted on Mersal's official Twitter page, Vijay expressed gratitude to all his supporters for making the film 'an overwhelming success'. The message is printed on the actor's letterhead.

Translation:

"Mersal, which was released for Deepavali, has received good reception. It is running successfully with the appreciation of the people. The film, which has emerged a huge success, also faced some opposition. In response to this, my friends from the film industry, actors, actresses, directors, film bodies such as the South Indian Film Artists Association, Tamil Film Producers' Council, national-level political leaders, heads of regional political parties, party representatives, friends from the media industry and my fans, both male and female, expressed huge support. I express my heartfelt gratitude to everybody for having supported the film and for having made it an overwhelming success."
