Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's recently released biography, An Ordinary Life, has already run into some trouble. While the book deals with the rise of one of the most talented actors of the current generation, it also delves into several of Siddiqui's relationships. One of them includes a brief affair between the actor and his Miss Lovely (2012) co-star, Niharika Singh.
In the book, co-authored by Rituparna Chatterjee, Siddiqui described the two having a one-and-a-half-year relationship that began on the sets of Miss Lovely, and also went on to provide some details of the relationship. Siddiqui even accused the actress of sending out emails from his account.
In an official statement put out on 24 October, Singh slammed the actor for wanting to sell his book, and 'willing to exploit and disrespect a woman just to do so.'
While Singh admitted that the two did have an affair that began on the sets of Miss Lovely, she said the details provided by the actor are 'laughable'. She wrote, 'Nawaz and I had a brief relationship in 2009 during the making of Miss Lovely that lasted less than a few months. So today, when he paints me as a woman in fur enticing him into her bedroom with candles, or desperately calling him and mailing other women on his behalf, I can only laugh. He obviously wants to sell his book and it would appear that he is willing to exploit and disrespect a woman just to do so.'
The actress also added that Siddiqui had chosen to 'fabricate stories' and manipulate a relationship. She also said, "None of what he has written has been with my knowledge, let alone my consent. It is this very aspect of Nawaz that caused me to end my relationship with him in the first place. I have always maintained that he's a brilliant actor. However, I had hoped these acting skills would have remained confined only to the screen. Still, I wish him well."
