After Mersal, another Tamil film takes a dig at GST move

The upcoming Tamil movie Kee has a scene where a character jokes about GST.

After Mersal kicked up a storm with its dialogues allegedly defaming the government's Goods and Services Tax (GST) move, it is learnt that another upcoming Tamil film has cracked a joke on the same subject in one of its scenes.

It is a scene from an upcoming film Kee, which stars Jiiva and Nikki Galrani. Directed by Kalees, the film is touted to be a science fiction psychological thriller.

The scene features RJ Balaji, whose character is narrating an incident about two friends going to eat dinner at a restaurant. The character says, “It will actually be just you and me dining at a restaurant. But the bill will be so huge that it will look as if two more people joined us. You know who those extra people are? They are GST. They make one’s stomach burn.”

Vijay-starrer Tamil film Mersal, which released during Diwali, created a massive controversy for a scene which criticizes GST and the deaths of kids in an Uttar Pradesh hospital. This didn’t go down well with the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), which implemented GST this year.

The scene from Kee was shared by the film’s producers Global Infotainment on their official YouTube channel. So far there have been no reactions to the scene.
