On a day when a politician from the ruling party has called for the destruction of Taj Mahal, the 'Ban Ja Rani' song from Tumhari Sulu makes for a firm reminder of how the monument is a symbol of love for many Indians even today. How often do we find a lover telling his beloved that he'll make a Taj Mahal for her?
The 'Ban Ja Rani' song is another beautiful example of this symbolic expression of love.
Penned and crooned by Guru Randhawa, the song scores for its simple chivalrous lyrics, and the energetic voice. Rajat Nagpal and Randhawa have together scored a fine peppy tune for this song. The short duration of the song, a minute and half, might leave you disappointed.

What adds flavour to the track is the pure, magical chemistry between Manav Kaul and Vidya Balan, the lead pair. Given his track record of playing villainous characters (Jai Gangaajal, Kai po che!), who would have thought Kaul could sing and dance in a film.
The choreography is kept real and simple for this on-screen couple that is simply enjoying some desi, homely, romantic fun moments.
We bet emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved queen Mumtaz would be proud to see Kaul's domestic, yet funny, chivalry.
The film is scheduled to be released on 17 November.
