Actress Shweta Tripathi, known for her performance in films like Masaan (2015) and Haraamkhor (2017), is stepping into film production. She says it is a great time to explore, expand and grow.

Asked why she has got into production, Tripathi told the IANS news agency, "It is never too early to start doing something that excites you. I feel now is a great time to explore, expand and grow."

The 32-year-old actress said she does not want to "sit and wait for roles and scripts". But is being part of a commercial film in her wishlist?

"I would love to do a commercial film. But my hero is the script. That has to woo me," she said.

Tripathi's latest film is Shlok Sharma's Zoo, which has been shot entirely on an iPhone. The film had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival on Friday 13 October.

"Zoo, directed by Shlok Sharma, is India's first iPhone film," Tripathi said. "It's so much fun to try out something new. It was great to be shot on an iPhone... very intimate. Just the actors and the cinematographer in the room. We didn't even know where the camera was and that helped us be the character throughout."

Tripathi has also been roped in for a web-series directed by Zoya Akhtar. Asked which she prefers, working in films or in web series, Tripathi said: "Films are my first love. But new platforms like Amazon give us the power to reach out to people across the globe. And that really makes me happy. I want the world to see my work."
