Jia Aur Jia song: Too much music, too little poetry spoils ‘Jia O Jia Reprise’

The song is a remixed version of Mohammad Rafi’s much loved classic ‘Jia O Jia’ from Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961).

The trend of remaking classic songs for new films refuses to die down. The latest comes from Howard Rosemeyer’s Jia Aur Jia, which features a remixed version of Mohammad Rafi’s much loved classic ‘Jia O Jia’ from Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961).

The 'Jia O Jia Reprise' is a duet with Jyotica Tangri and Rashid Ali on the microphone. The two of them have performed their tasks well, adding some modern touch to the classic melody and, thus, making it sound like a 21st century song.

Jia Aur Jia song: Kalki Koechlin, Richa Chadda look out of place in this wacky dance number

However, the same cannot be said about the attempt to convert the classic song into a contemporary dance number. Even though 'Jia O Jia Reprise', has a good build-up, it fails to sustain the listener's attention for long. It begins slowly, gradually leading to verses with more beats thrown in. However, this becomes problematic as there's too much music and little poetry.

The lead actresses Kalki Koechlin and Richa Chadha display a good bonding and chemistry in the video. Actor Arslan Goni is also seen prancing around with the ladies. The film's crew makes an appearance in the video, but their awkwardness is quite apparent.

Jia Aur Jia is all set to be released on 27 October.
