Makers of the film Firangi, starring Kapil Sharma, released the motion poster today and announced 24 November as the release date.
The image of the Britain flag and Sharma’s character, a cop, kicking an Englishman on the backside suggests that Firangi might be a film on Brit bashing. Those who’ve followed Sharma's TV shows, Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show, will be familiar with Sharma poking fun at himself for his broken English. Incidentally, Sharma's shows have had a character called Shamsher who is a humorous, but tough cop. We wonder if Sharma's character in Firangi is modelled on Shamsher.
Sharma had made his film debut as a lead in Abbas Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015). The film was panned by critics and fared badly at the box office too.
Apart from Sharma, Firangi also has Ishita Dutt, Monica Gill and Inaamulhaq. It is directed by Rajiev Dhingra.

The year has been tough for Sharma both personally and professionally. Apart from his TV show going off air, the actor was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Last month, he completed a successful stint at a, Ayurveda rehabilitation centre in Bangalore.
