Rohit Shetty, who is gearing up for the release of his comedy flick, Golmaal Again, this Diwali, has already finalised his next project, an untitled film with Ranveer Singh in the lead.
In an interaction with Cinestaan.com, the director confirmed that the shooting for the massy action film is set to kickstart in May 2018. Meanwhile, the final draft of the script is being worked on, after which the rest of cast will be finalised.
The director refuted rumours about Katrina Kaif being approached to play the female lead opposite Singh. "We have the script. We will start in May. The female lead and the title are not yet finalised," he said.
The untitled film is an official adaptation of the 2015 Telugu hit Temper, starring NT Rama Rao Junior and Kajal Aggarwal. The story revolves around a corrupt cop's transformation into an honest officer, aided by his girlfriend and and an honest constable.
Shetty also said that Singh will be seen in a completely new avatar in the film. "It’s a massy action film. Ranveer hasn’t done a film like that yet," says the director.
Shetty and Singh finalised this project while they were shooting for an advertisement last year. "I had an idea about this subject which I wanted to make when I was shooting for the ad with Ranveer. During the making of the ad we discussed this subject and it just happened," said Shetty.
But that's not all. Shetty is also keen to continue making the next films in his Singham and Golmaal franchises. "If this one works then we will definitely plan Golmaal 5. We will know that on the 20th (release date). At the moment I don’t have a script for either Singham 3 or Golmaal 5, so whichever script gets cracked first, we will make that. So we will definitely make the next Golmaal if this works, and also Singham 3 since both the earlier parts have done well."
